break

Now we are in a half-term break. "Half-term break" is one to two-week holidays in the middle of the school term. It is something unfamiliar for Japanese, but I can't imagine the school without half-term break any more. Since I got used to this system, the terms without the break seem to be too long...

I have a plan to have a BBQ with my friends on Monday during the break. It is also a farewell party, since one of my friends are moving to Greece soon.

Our house is located in an excellent situation. We live on the beautiful school campus which is now very quiet during the break. We can dominate the whole campus! Beautiful play ground is only for our boys! Front lawn that is well taken care of is our private park! Now our place can have many guests for my private BBQ party, .......if only the weather is OK.

Weather is always tricky in this country even in the best season, which is NOW.

I checked a weather forecast. It says we would have heavy shower on Monday......

HEAVY shower.....
What shall I do with about fifteen people in my house if it rains...?

Hope we would not have RAIN.
We can accommodate with just shower...probably, if it is not proper rain.

cauliflower

My neighbour is an excellent gardener. He grows various kinds of vegetables and his crops are more than enough to cover the needs for his whole family. So he often gives us fresh vegetables he grew in his allotments.

What his son brought to me the other day was.....

giant cauliflower!!!
(photo:my son with the giant cauliflower in his arms)
Can you believe this size? It is huge!

I am grateful for getting such nice and fresh vegetables.

But.......

I don't like cauliflowers........

Sorry.....

But I must not waste this treasure from the earth! I must consume this somehow.

My friend recommended me a "cauliflower cheese." It is a typical ENGLISH pub food with loads of cheddar cheese in it. I have never had the dish, so I cooked this from my pure curiosity.

Although I dislike cauliflowers, this dish didn't bother me at all. Actually I liked it. (I wouldn't want to eat this so often, though. XD) It was the taste of cheddar cheese more than anything else.

If you want to try this British food, here is the recipe. Enjoy!

I used a third of the cauliflower for this "cauliflower cheese" yesterday, then a sixth of whole for curry today.

Can you believe that I still have a half of huge cauliflower???

What shall I do with this...?

Done!

I finished my main lesson "Projective Geometry" today. It was my last day of teaching.

I have been a maths teacher for 13 years, but I am not a teacher any more. I am done with teaching. I quit.

I have a next goal for my future career, and I am going to focus on my study to achieve the goal. The career I am aiming for is completely different profession from a teacher. So this would be huge change for me.

I know it is not easy to achieve this.

But I will. I decided to do it.

I believe that human negative thought limits human possibility.
If I think it is impossible, it would never happen.
If I believe I can do it, the dream would come true.

I strongly believe this.

Do you know "Projective Geometry"? This is NON-Euclidean Geometry. In the idea of Projective Geometry, parallel lines meet at one point at INFINITY. Infinity is beyond limitation. If we think about Geometry within the limit, parallel lines never cross each other as Greek mathematician Euclid said. But the idea of "INFINITY" enables parallel lines to meet.

How can we reach the world of infinity?
--- By thinking.

By thinking, we can reach INFINITY.
We can go beyond the limit.

Can we apply this idea to our lives?

By believing "I can do it", I can take off the limitation. And I can go beyond the limit to achieve the dream...Can't I?

I believe I can.
Beyond the limit, we go to Infinity.

I feel "Projective Geometry" inspired me a lot through my last main lesson...

Fibonacci

I love to observe the Fibonacci Series as it appears in nature.
We can see it in many plants, such as sunflowers, daisys, cornflowers, pine cones...etc. Every time I find this somewhere around me, I can hardly resist from taking photos.

And here is the photo I took yesterday.
Isn't it gorgeous?

Do you see spirals here?
Actually there are three sets of spirals here.
Clockwise, counterclockwise and in the middle of these two sets.

If you count the numbers of spirals, you will find interesting figures.

nice day again

Today was a beautiful day again.
I saw many girls (both young and aged) are in summer clothes, such as a camisole and a mini-skirt. It is nice to wear light clothes under sunshine as I show my skin.

So I changed my cloth after the work, from cotton jumper and long skirt to short sleeve shirts and a mini-skirt.

It is nice. Feels great. Feels like summer.

But..........it is a bit cold, ....................honestly to say. XD

Today's highest temperature was 22℃.

English people are saying "it's BOILING!."

They must be crazy.

nice day

We are now in the best season in England.
We had such a beautiful day here in England today. Blue clear sky was above us, warm breeze refreshed us.

The day after three-day off with this weather could be tough for teachers. Since most of the pupils feel relaxed more than necessary, and they didn't feel like working on the day like this.

I can understand them. Even adults are so happy under this blue sky, because our general weather is gray, cloudy, wet and rainy in England. Before I live in England, I couldn't imagine how much weather could affect human. But now I understand that this depressing weather affects people heavily here.

So....., under this blue sky, pupils were all over, couldn't descipline themselves...

It's OK. They should fully enjoy this weather now, since this nice season is very short... .....Of course they should be engaged in the lessons though.

**************
Here are some photos from my garden.

Calendulla.
This should be annual, but somehow it survived through the winter. Now they are blooming!

Lily of the valley.
They are cute and strong plants. Every spring they come back and bloom a lot!

Japanese azalea is now in full bloom!
Isn't it gorgeous?
I am proud of this flower that came from my country!

Blue berry flowers.
I bought two blue berry plants this year.
They are still small and I don't expect harvest.
But it is nice to see a few flowers on them.

And...., this is a part of my garden.
It looks quite nice on this photo, doesn't it? :D

big penne

I often order some natural foods to be delivered at a natural food shop.

Some time ago, I ordered some pasta and several other groceries by phone. The pasta "penne" I ordered was out of stock, so the lady on a phone listed up their stocks. One of their stocks was called "big penne." I had no clue about the size of the BIG penne, though the name "big penne" attracted me somehow. Then I ordered it.

Here is the photo of the big penne I have received↓.

You might not imagine the size of penne from this photo. So now imagine a penne and its diameter of the section is approximately 3cm. .......It's not big, it's HUGE. :<

And it takes 21 minutes to cook because of the thickness. 21 minutes seems to be forever to cook pasta...

But it is awarded in Italy as the best organic pasta and actually tastes good.

But it is far too big.........

Since the natural food shop only sells in a bulk quantity, I have bought a dozen of 500g package. ummmmm....

What shall I do with this gigantic pasta? Maybe I can create some new recipes from this unusual pasta. What about stuffing some vegetables or meat in the penne? It might turn out to be delicious.

Definitely it would look cool!
Imagine the penne that has some asparagus sticking out of it.
Eat it with some nice tomato sauce.
Maybe some salad dressing would go well with it.

Doesn't it sound good? :D

cake

Today was the second day of our three-day off.
But the sky was dark gray, and was raining from the early morning.

It is troublesome with little boys when the weather is like this.

So again I made a cake to entertain my sons.

Today's cake was a loaf of carrot cake.

I always start making cake from making butter from fresh cream. Everybody says it is too much trouble to make butter from scratch, but actually it is not.

Just whip whip whip whip whip whip the cream in a bowl...., patiently.

Believe me. This home made butter makes the butter cake so much softer and spongy.

Even cookery teacher admires my carrot cake.

Try!

vocabulary

I often visit internet site "wikipedea" for my research. Also this site is very useful to increase the number of my vocaburaries.

Often the use of English-English dictionary and Thesaurus is recommended for the study of English.

They are necessary and essential to study English.

But I really love to use internet encyclopedia as well as dictionaries/thesaurus.

Encyclopedia is more interesting than dictionaries because it has more detailed information in it. So not only words I can learn, but also knowledge I can gain. Of course the links to other vocab or some other web site are useful to learn more and more words.

So today's word I looked up on wikipedia was "fainting."

I accidentally fainted this morning, and I wanted to know more about the medical aspect of the fainting.

......
It was not so good to start a day with fainting.
But I have learnt more about fainting and its related vocaburaries because I have fainted. So as a result, it was not so bad.

And...... because of the fainting, my husband has been really nice to me today.
This made me so much happier!

He is ALWAYS nice to me though. :D

friday night

Today's title is the "Friday night." But it is nothing exciting.

In England we have a big weekend this week, because of the bank holiday on Monday.

So we opened three bottles of beer and one bottle of red wine before supper. They tasted great after five busy weekdays. Drinking beer without being worried about the next day is fantastic! What a great moment! yeah!!!!!!!!!!!

So...... I got drunk soon after drinking several glasses of beer, and I lied down on my bed when I took my boys to their bed at 7:45 p.m., and I fell asleep.

Now it is 2:30a.m..... I can't sleep any more, I am right awake....

What shall I do now?

It is all right. Tomorrow is Saturday. I don't have to be worried about anything.

But I've got one problem..... That is about my boys.

They are going to get up early anyway. They have no concept of weekend.

Weekend morning is the precious time for us to sleep!
You need to learn it, boys!

Let me sleep in some time, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese!
