break

Now we are in a half-term break. "Half-term break" is one to two-week holidays in the middle of the school term. It is something unfamiliar for Japanese, but I can't imagine the school without half-term break any more. Since I got used to this system, the terms without the break seem to be too long...

I have a plan to have a BBQ with my friends on Monday during the break. It is also a farewell party, since one of my friends are moving to Greece soon.

Our house is located in an excellent situation. We live on the beautiful school campus which is now very quiet during the break. We can dominate the whole campus! Beautiful play ground is only for our boys! Front lawn that is well taken care of is our private park! Now our place can have many guests for my private BBQ party, .......if only the weather is OK.

Weather is always tricky in this country even in the best season, which is NOW.

I checked a weather forecast. It says we would have heavy shower on Monday......

HEAVY shower.....
What shall I do with about fifteen people in my house if it rains...?

Hope we would not have RAIN.
We can accommodate with just shower...probably, if it is not proper rain.

Ramen!

This weekend, I will have a Ramen Party with my Japanese friends and their families. Since most of Japanese people here in England have a rare chance to eat proper ramen, I decided to make ramen and eat it with them.

I often make noodles from scratch. I kneed udon, kishimen, soba, pasta, and ramen myself, and cut it with a pasta machine.

One of my friends is a professional cook and she is from Fukuoka. Yes! Fukuoka is famous for "tonkotsu" ramen! So she will make two different kinds of tonkotsu soup and I make ramen noodles. Other friends make cha-shu (cooked pork), cooked egg, gyoza, memma...etc, and of course sweets as well!

So I made some ramen noodles as my practice yesterday, because I have not made it for a while. It was good, but I was not satisfied with the thickness of the noodles. The thinnest setting of the pasta machine is too thin for tonkotsu ramen. The second thinnest setting is too thick....

But it will be all right. Not just all right. It will be great!
